Hook Point: How to Stand Out in a 3-Second World, by out of the box thinker Brendan Kane, breaks down the most effective strategies to generate new opportunities, innovate and scale your business, and create a compelling brand--both online and off--so you can thrive in the new micro-attention world in which we live. A lot of people know who they are, what they do, and a few even know why they do it--but even when brands or individuals have clarity in these areas, they often struggle to grab a potential audience's attention for long enough to get them to learn about their attributes. Others have amazing products or services that fail to achieve great success because they don't know how to talk about what they do effectively. This is because digital and social media have reshaped our world into one of micro-attention. There are over sixty billion messages shared on digital platforms each day, and the average person is exposed to between four thousand to ten thousand ads a day. This bombardment of stimuli has changed the way we communicate and market content both online and off. In fact, research shows that you have less than three seconds to capture a person's attention. With such a short window of time, we need to hook audiences quickly, efficiently, and consistently if we want to successfully fuel brand awareness and growth. Luckily, Brendan Kane, an out of the box thinker and strategist who's built platforms for celebrities like Taylor Swift and Rhianna, and worked with Fortune 500 companies like Paramount, Viacom, and MTV has mastered the art of standing out. In Hook Point: How to Stand Out in a 3-Second World he reveals the power of hook points--a communication tool that helps marketers package their messages in a succinct, attention-grabbing way that leads to better opportunities both online and off. Whether you're promoting a brand, product, or service this book is the essential guide for making it in our three-second world.

The Kitans established the Liao dynasty in northern China, which lasted for over two centuries (916-1125). In this survey the reader will find what is currently known about the Kitan language and scripts. The language was very likely distantly related to Mongolian, with two quite different scripts in use. A few generations after their state was defeated, almost all trace of the Kitan spoken and written languages disappeared, except a few words in Chinese texts. Over the past few decades, however, inscriptions from the tombs of the Liao emperors and the Kitan aristocracy have been at least partially deciphered, resulting in a significant increase of our knowledge of the Kitan lexicon, morphology and syntax.

This book takes an inside look at the history and development of American comic books through interviews with Kane and some of his most important collaborators. These interviews, conducted by Daniel Herman, author of Gil Kane: The Art of the Comics, explore a wide range of topics which focus on the development of comic book storytelling in the last half of the twentieth century. “HOW TO WRITE YOUR BOOK, From an Idea...to your Finished Story,” as narrated by “The Three Wise Writing Guides,” is a journey into the exciting world of writing. A writing guide can be very dry and boring, but “How to Write Your Book...,” takes the reader on a journey with our three guides: the Writer, Ms. Iwanna B. Writer, the Editor, Ms. Edi Tor, and the Publisher, Mr. I.M. Publisher. Each guide provides writing tools designed to help anyone who wants to write; from the novice to the published author. This book was developed as a direct result of the authors’ years of experience, as editors and publishers and also as published authors. “From our writing workshops and interactive seminars, we gained an understanding of writers’ specific needs. We concluded that most participants were unable to take their ideas from the seedling stage to the finished story. For the most part, great story ideas would pop-up, then ultimately fizzle just from the task of getting these ideas down on paper. Workshop questionnaires and writing assignments revealed that not only aspiring writers, but also the more experienced, could benefit from learning how to properly structure their great ideas into finished stories. Once each writer could overcome their obstacles by setting realistic goals, and understanding the process through the eyes of established writers, editors and publishers, those writers stayed on track and were motivated to complete their projects. They saw the quality of their work immediately improve and were able to know how to keep writing, what to do next and even how to overcome the road blocks. When these writers followed our step-by step process they were able to see their writing projects through to completion.” This book was also used in the actual creation of a currently published novel. The “Chapter Review Maps,” show how each of the techniques benefitted the story line in, "Code 47 to BREV Force," and how any writer can put those tools to work for any story. Madry and Barish-Stern filled this book with their writing journeys’ as authors of numerous books in many different genre; as editors of hundreds of books, from their experiences with publishing unknown authors. They also were able to see the issues from a cross section of writers garnered from years of teaching classes. "How to Write Your Book," is a fun, exciting, interesting and educational way to achieve your dream of writing a book, ..."from an idea to your published story."

Love Me or Kill Me is the first study of Sarah Kane, the most significant British dramatist in post-war theater. It covers all of Kane's major plays and productions, contains hitherto unpublished material and reviews, and looks at her continuing influence after her tragic early death. Locating the main dramatic sources and features of her work as well as centralizing her place within the 'new wave' of emergent British dramatists in the 1990's, Graham Saunders provides an introduction for those familiar and unfamiliar with her work.
